I wanna be a writer when I grow up?

When I was 3 till 11 I had the same dream every night I wanna write a book about it when I am older. That is what Stephanie Myer did. Is this a sign? I have written short rough drafts of it. oh by the way I am 13. I have just recently told people what I would like to do. I know it takes a lot of time and patience to become a writer but I really want to. I have stopped having these dreams but I randomly get them every once in a while. It almost like a movie. My friends have told me this is a very cool idea and that writers make a lot of money. But I am willing to work very hard I love to write. I get a lot of desperation about what to do everywhere I go. People I meet I add characters. i LOVE TO READ. but I am very picky If I do not love the first 10 pages I stop reading it. I am in to murder and mystery and teen drama, Heck lets just through in some paranormal crap here and there. so do you think I should try and accomplish my dreams? or think of a new one When is a good age to start planning. I know some steps.
